We got to #SpendTime with Valentina

Earlier this year I stumbled upon a video of Valentina sharing her music online. I loved that she just seemed so real. Everything about her was effortless yet captivating. Just a young pretty girl with no make up on -- hair tossed in a ponytail, singing her heart out. I knew we had to spend time with her.

Oh what a breath of fresh air. Valentina was just as charming in person, if not more! We spent a sunny afternoon in Valentina’s beautiful home studio. We checked out her music and chatted about life. She's from Beverly Grove California, born to be a Hollywood star.

How long have you been singing?

Forever. As long as I could talk, I always wanted to be a singer.

Do you write your own music?

Yes! I love writing. It's my version of therapy. I'm very sensitive so it's a good way to get feelings out.

Do you find playing instruments helpful when you write?

Yes definitely! I mainly play guitar and a tiny bit of piano but it's inspiring to write in different settings and on different instruments. It brings completely different melodies and ideas to my head.

What do you want to share with the world?

I want to put out the most personal songs I can, songs about the hardest times in my life. I hope that others can relate to my music and that it can help them as well.

What keeps you going?

My family. I want to buy them the big house one day and give everything back to them. I’m inspired by the challenges life throws at you and by people who tell me I can’t do something. It really pushes me.

How do you spend time?

I love making music in my room. Mainly alone but also with my boyfriend. These days I’m learning how to produce so that takes up a lot of time but I’m currently producing a lot of the new music coming out for me and it’s been incredibly fun and empowering.

How would you tell young Valentina to spend her time?

Haha, I would tell her to stop wasting time with meaningless things like shopping or materialistic things and to put time into the things that matter more.

What do you consider your style?

Are you into accessories?

I like anything simple and dainty.

Do you have a favorite Leonard & Church piece?

Yes, the gold Mercer

Any special projects you'd like to share with us?

I just released a new song that I produced called “Ten Feet Tall”. It’s the most personal song I’ve shared. It’s about a point in my life where I felt the smallest and it’s a big reason as to why I make music today.

Any advice for aspiring musicians?

Every time a door is slammed in your face, just work a little harder.

Thank you Valentina for spending time with Leonard & Church. Listen to her music online and follow her @Valentinaaa

Remember this face everyone. A natural beauty with talent, truly a force to be reckoned with.
